Look for these new science fiction and horror movies from Lionsgate and Overture Films in theaters this fall.

Supernatural, virtual, and serial killers stalk their prey in these new releases from major independent studios.

Gamer

In this futuristic sci-fi action thriller, humans control real people in mass-scale, multi-player online games. The latest gaming craze is the first-person shooter game called “Slayers” in which people act out their most violent fantasies online before a global audience, using real prisoners as avatars forced to fight in mortal combat. The story centers around Kable (Gerard Butler), who was taken from his family, imprisoned, and forced to fight against his will as a modern-day gladiator.

Pandorum

On a dark, deserted spacecraft once inhabited by 60,000 passengers, two astronauts awaken from hyper-sleep with no knowledge of their identities, their mission, or the whereabouts of the missing passengers. Five hundred million miles from earth, the ship itself holds the secret to their situation. Yet learning this secret – and discovering that they are not alone onboard – presents a more horrifying scenario then they could ever have imagined.

Saw VI

This represents the sixth installment of the popular serial-killer franchise about a former toy designer diagnosed with terminal cancer who cuts puzzle-shaped pieces out of his victims’ flesh. This time, Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) takes on the legacy of the Jigsaw Killer (Tobin Bell). The FBI zeroes in on Hoffman, thereby forcing him to start the sadistic game all over again. As the story progresses, Jigsaw’s grand scheme manifests itself.
