Top Five Unstoppable Horror Movie VillainsWho Is Number One? Freddy? Jason? Chucky? Read On For The Answer! There've been lots of indelible horror-movie villains over the years, yet it's only a select few that stand out as the most unstoppable foes that the genre has to offer.
There’s a significant different between a run-of-the-mill bad guy and a flat-out unstoppable villain; the former can usually be shut down with a well-placed bullet, while the latter often requires a heck of a lot more creativity and stamina. Below are five of the hardiest, most unstoppable villains in horror-movie franchise history: 1. Freddy Krueger (the Nightmare on Elm Street series) Played by: Robert Englund How he died: Freddy Krueger was a vicious child murderer whose past finally caught up with him as the parents of his victims took justice into their own hands and burned him alive. Of course, Freddy got his revenge by coming back to life as terrifying lifeforce that attacks his victims in their sleep. Why he makes the list: Is there anything more terrifying than a villain you can’t even see coming? Freddy’s ability to slaughter his slumbering victims makes him an exceedingly slippery foe, and although he was seemingly destroyed for good in 1994’s New Nightmare, the clawed baddie returned for a battle with fellow psychopath Jason Voorhees in 2003’s Freddy vs. Jason. 2. Jason Voorhees (the Friday the 13th series) Played by: Jason has been portrayed by a number of different actors, with Kane Hodder the most constant of them all (he’s donned Jason’s famed hockey mask for four installments of this ongoing series). How he died: Jason Voorhees famously perished by drowning while attending Camp Crystal Lake as an adolescent; his mother blamed the death on the neglect of several counsellors, and she consequently got her revenge by embarking on a horny-teenager killing spree years later. Why he makes the list: Jason’s indelible hockey mask and oversized machete have assured his place within the pantheon of unforgettable screen villains, and it’s certainly worth noting that – although he’s been killed at the close of virtually every one of the Friday the 13th movies – he keeps coming back to wreak havoc on the lives of Camp Crystal Lake’s hapless counsellors. 3. Michael Myers (the Halloween series) Played by: Actor George P. Wilbur remains the only actor to step into Michael Myers’ iconic shoes more than once, having portrayed the terrifying behemoth in the fourth and sixth installments of the Halloween series. How he died: After terrorizing a young Jamie Lee Curtis and murdering several innocent bystanders, Michael Myers is cornered by his increasingly frazzled psychiatrist (Donald Pleasence’s Dr. Loomis) and shot six times in the chest. Why he makes the list: Before Rob Zombie got his hands on him, Michael Myers’ exceedingly sinister presence was cemented by his refusal (or inability) to say a single word. There’s subsequently no bargaining with the guy; like a run-of-the-mill wild animal, there’s simply no escaping ol’ Mike’s clutches once he has his sights on you. 4. Chucky (the Child’s Play series) Played by: A creepy puppet (Oscar-nominated actor Brad Dourif provides Chucky’s sinister voice). How he died: Charles Lee Ray was a demented killer who used voodoo to take over the body of a talking doll just before he died, and – in the guise of Chucky – he went on to terrorize a small boy named Andy. His reign of murder and mayhem came to an end after he was burned alive, physically removed from his limbs, and finally shot in the heart. Why he makes the list: Chucky’s comical appearance and penchant for wisecracks is nothing but a front for a terrifying, downright evil persona, as he’s proven time and time again that he’ll do whatever it takes to commandeer the body of hapless owner Andy Barclay. And because nobody believes Andy until its too late, Chucky has proven himself entirely adept at framing his would-be host for his various crimes. 5. Jigsaw (the Saw series) Played by: Tobin Bell. How he died: Though he was diagnosed with a fatal tumor prior to the events of the original Saw, Jigsaw (AKA John Kramer) managed to hang around until the end of the third installment – when his throat was slit by a potential victim. Why he makes the list: Jigsaw’s modus operandi boils down to choice, as he’s never actually killed anyone with his own hands. His intricate yet deadly contraptions usually have an escape built into them, but Jigsaw’s victims are rarely astute enough to take advantage of such offerings. And with a protege just itching to take over where he left off, Jigsaw will continue teach the unsuspecting harsh lessons in decision making for years to come.
